You're in luck! That's exactly why I created this website... for busy cooks like you and me, who need to take what's in the cupboard, freezer, and fridge and create a healthy dinner to make the family happy... tonight... right now.
I know what it's like to work hard all day, then walk into the kitchen after 5 and stand there wondering, "Now what?" You didn't thaw anything out... there's no real plan for dinner... and the kids and other loved ones are clamoring, "I'm hungry... what are you making?"
Sound familiar?
I thought so...
I am here to help you. Before you know it, you'll be creating quick and easy recipes of your own every night. Your family will be amazed at your sudden cooking prowess. And these won't be just any meals... they'll be delicious, almost-gourmet meals that you pull together in less than an hour.
By the way, my name is Kathi, and I'm an amateur cook. I came up with the concept of "Thrown Together Meals" a few months ago, but it's actually something I've been doing in my own kitchen for quite a while.
You see, I love to cook and I love great flavor. But I didn't always know how to get there. So I started educating myself to be an adventurous, delicious cook. Using some cookbooks by favorite chefs, as well as some hand-picked Web resources, I learned a lot about mixing ingredients and seasonings.
At the same time, although I could happily putter in the kitchen for hours, I have family members who really didn't enjoy waiting 2 hours for dinner. I guess I'm not the fastest cook, because sometimes it took me an hour and a half or more to get a "30-minute meal" on the table!
Anyway, when 6 o'clock comes, my mom and boyfriend start whining about being hungry. (OK, maybe I'm hyping it up a bit... but they do start asking, "What's for dinner? When is it going to be ready?")
The problem is, I work hard, all day long, and even though I work from home, I can't just quit at 4 PM to start cooking either. So, I had to find a way to have fun with my cooking, but still get dinner on the table in an hour or less.
Unfortunately, I mostly live life by the seat of my pants. I kind of like it that way, but also I guess I don't really have my act together when it comes to managing my personal life (all my organization and attention to detail goes into my career & business, it seems...). So most nights, I walk into the kitchen without a clue what I'm going to make for dinner.
Sometimes the family just gets pasta and jarred sauce or hamburgers cooked on the grill with frozen french fries. But that's boring. So I started rummaging through my kitchen and just kind of throwing things together, using my gut instincts on what would "go"... and you know what? It worked. I came up with some really memorable quick and easy recipes.
Before I knew it, I was throwing together meals with a passion on a regular basis! I think studying those cookbooks every night for a couple of years paid off. I have good instincts when creating easy recipes that go together quickly.
And my husband and mother were raving about my meals... almost every night. (Hey, no one hits a home run every time, you know...) But anyway, Jim kept telling me I needed to write these easy dinner recipes down so I could duplicate them. And then he started urging me to share them with the world.
I'm kind of a shy, modest person, so I hope I'm not coming off as bragging here. Believe me, I was surprised that the recipes I was coming up with were such a hit. But Mom's and Jim's reactions really did get me thinking...
And, since I build websites on a regular basis, I thought it might be fun to run with the idea and build a Thrown Together Meals site where I could share my recipes and also get others to post theirs. Sort of a quick and easy recipes for dinner community, you know?
So that's what this site is all about.
Obviously, this is the kind of site that will keep growing and growing over time, as I add recipes and as my readers do. I'm sure it will evolve to some extent too. But for now, here's what you can expect to find here...
Won't you start exploring and sharing quick and easy recipes today?
