My dad used to make this hamburger soup recipe every month or so when I was a teenager. Now it's one of the easy ground beef recipes I make regularly.

Actually, my mom tells me this was her mom's recipe originally, but I only remember my dad making it, so I think of it as his masterpiece. Although we have a cherished family recipe for this soup, which I've outlined below, this is the perfect thrown together meal recipe, because you can vary it as much as you like, to use whatever you have on hand.
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 potatoes, cubed
2 celery stalks, sliced
1/4 head of cabbage
2 large carrots, sliced
1 can tomato sauce
1 bouillon cube
Directions:
Cover vegetables with water in soup pot or crockpot. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cook until vegetables are tender.
This soup has great, hearty flavor and is great on its own or can be complemented with hard rolls or crusty French bread. Delish!
