Do you like to win prizes? Enjoy sharing your recipe creations with others? If so, you might want to participate in one of our recipe contests...

They say "sharing is caring," and that is never more true than when it comes to recipes!

How many times have you asked someone for their recipe after sampling a dish they made? Dozens? Me too! How else do we cooks get inspired and learn about different dishes, after all...

I give you lots of opportunities to share your recipes on this site every day, but I thought it might fun to run periodic contests and award prizes to spice things up now and then. Smile

How it Would Work...

I am thinking of running a monthly contest for the best quick, easy dinner recipe from my readers. Each month would have some kind of theme, just to narrow the range of the recipes somewhat and also even the playing field. For instance, a monthly theme might be focused on an upcoming holiday or event... or a certain type of protein.

I would take in as many contributions as I could during the course of a month and then at the end of the month, award a prize of some kind to the cook (or cooks) with the best recipes.

In the beginning, I would plan on making the decisions on the recipe contest, but down the road, as my readership increases, I might ask my core group of readers and followers to volunteer to help select the best recipe each month. That's when it'll get really fun!

Proposed Monthly Recipe Contest Rules

  1. Recipe should be your own original creation. After all, that's the whole concept of thrown together meals!
(But it could be inspired by someone else's recipe.)
  2. Recipe must be a dinner or entree recipe.
  3. Recipe should be as healthy as possible.
  4. Recipe can be prepared & on the table in under an hour.
  5. Recipe must be complete, i.e., list of ingredients, detailed directions.
  6. Recipe should be in keeping with the monthly theme.

Does that sound reasonable?

Tell Me What You Really Think...

I decided that before I move forward with my plans for a recipe contest, I'd poll my readers. Actually, I DID try this contest thingie once before... it was a failure! But I'm hoping the problem a year ago was simply that the website was too new and I just didn't have enough serious visitors.

At this point, I'm getting 200 to 300 new visitors each day to the site, so hopefully there are enough people interested in this idea to make it a go... We shall see...

If you would help me out by filling out this very short survey, it'll help me decide what direction (if any) to go with this contest idea.

To thank you for your time, I'm going to give you 3 new recipes for FREE from my upcoming "Eat Like a Gourmet Chef on a Budget" recipe collection. All you have to do is fill out the survey!

Do we have a deal?

If not, then thank you for reading this far, and I hope you enjoy your visit to the site. If we DO have a deal, then here you go...
